This project involved a series of canvases accompanying me on adventures exploring the Devon coasts and immersing myself in the hills of Dartmoor.

 

They became 'travelling canvases' and collected elements of the earth on their journeys. My ambition was to generate a series of paintings that approach ideas of space, scale and landscape.

 

Abstract and ambiguous depictions of atmosphere and perspective have been the focus to confront ideologies of the earth and to offer contrast to literal representations of landscape. This artwork oscillates between harmony and disorder.
