Megan Wakelam is an artist based in North Somerset, creating a collection of work largely inspired by the sea. She studied Fine Art at Plymouth University and has been developing her practice since 2015.

Wild swimming and coastal exploration are central to her life and deeply inform her paintings. These experiences bring clarity and creative energy, which she translates onto canvas in the studio.

Working predominantly in oils, Megan also explores a range of media and surfaces. Seascapes remain a consistent focus, with particular attention to the sea’s shifting moods. A sense of vastness and movement continues to drive her work.

Her paintings evolve with the seasons: softer, light-filled pieces develop in the warmer months, while more dramatic works take shape in winter.

Many people share a strong connection to the coast — whether through a favourite place, a memory, or simply the feeling of being by the sea. Megan creates commissioned paintings that reflect these connections, producing pieces tailored to individual spaces or capturing meaningful locations.

Her work is held in private collections across the UK, and she welcomes enquiries for commissions, collaborations and exhibitions.
